Drummer Don
“DG” Aliff
is the master timekeeper for the band. Don is primarily
self-taught,
with the exception of three years in a high school band
program.
Born
in West Virginia, Don was raised in the San Francisco Bay
Area.
He has
lived in the DC Metro area for 16 years since moving from Detroit. Don
cites his influences as jazz greats Chick Webb, Joe Morello, Buddy
Rich, Funk master and high school band mate David Garibaldi of Tower of
Power, rocker Steve Smith of Journey, and session masters Steve Gadd
and J.R. Robinson. Playing drums since the age of 10, Don
cites
his
first paying gig “was in San Franciso at a Catholic youth
club playing in a five guitar and one drummer band doing Ventures and
Surfari's covers for 5 bucks and all the soda we could
drink.” Since then Don has been involved with local
blues
and
jazz bands where ever he has lived, including three years in London
during his military days playing rock and blues in the local pub
circuit. Don has been fortunate enough to play once with the late great
John Lee Hooker and jazzman Earl Klugh. He has also done some
local
gigs with DC jazzmen Alex Jenkins and Ray Collins. |

Drummer
and vocalist Tim
Saylor has a rock solid
back beat that is unwavering with over 35 years to back it up. He
started
playing out professionally at a very young age, first with the old
school sounds in his Dad's country band then with the (now classic)
sounds of the up to date tunes of rock and roll, sharing the stage with
his two older brothers. It's easy to see how the years have given him
the versatility for a verity of music.
Tim has made his way working with and sharing the stage with some of
the biggest names in the music industry including Ronnie Milsap, Toby
Keith, Diamond Rio, Neil McCoy, Dr. Hook, and Georgia Satellites just
to name a few. Most recently Tim has been content working with some of
the best local area musicians these past few years and can't wait to
get settled in to yet another great local group with a "Big Time"
sound. So put on your dancing shoes, grab a friend come out and say
hello to Tim and the rest of the top notch guys in the Piece By Piece
Band, but plan on staying until closing because you won't want
to
leave. |

Guitarist and
vocalist Bill
“Obie" Oberer
is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and has lived in the Washington, D.C.
metro area for the past 12 years. Bill has been honing his instrument
for 25 years, working in many varied genres, including Blues,
R&B, Country, Classic, Progressive and Soft Rock, as well as
Pop/Dance and Show styles. Obie plays acoustic, electric and
synthesized guitars and uses many common techniques such as
“hammering”, “tapping” and
swelling to “get to the other side.”
Obie has also worked as a “studio gun" in some of the best
studios on the East Coast and can be heard on Blues/Rock collections
“Nothing Lasts Forever” and “Take Me
Back”. Influenced by the likes of Duane Allman and Stevie Ray
Vaughn, Obie utilizes his many varied experiences and styles into
something he can call his own. As if that weren't enough, Obie also
sings high-end lead and harmony and works the stage to offer a visual
performance. When Obie's playing he's having fun, so you might as well
join the party. |

Jeff
Seigle
has played guitar since he was 7. After playing in a few local teenage
bands in the Baltimore area, he left for the University of Michigan and
continued to pursue music part-time while studying. After playing with
the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble, musicals, and a few years on
the wedding and school party circuit, he focused on his software
development career.
After getting married, having two kids, then getting them out of
diapers, he resumed his part-time musical career with Piece by Piece.
He also finds time to be the Webmaster for the band. Jeff cites his
musical influences as rock and blues players Eric Clapton, Terry Kath
and Albert Collins, and jazzers Pat Martino and Wes Montgomery. Jeff's
jazz influenced style is evident in the swing and ballad material the
band does, and is an important and welcome addition to the band. Jeff
also sings from time to time as do all the members of the Piece by
Piece Band. |
